Donate to Pride!

USD PRIDE has experienced a tremendous growth this year doubling student registrations from last year! PRIDE currently has 87 registered students making it one of the biggest student clubs on campus with even more unregistered students attending meetings and weekly social hours. We are proud to have created a space on campus and we could use your help to continue our important work.

Honorary Keynote Speaker Todd Gloria

San Diego City Councilmember District 3, Todd Gloria, graduated summa cum laude from University of San Diego in 2000 with majors in history and political science. While a student at USD, Gloria was active in the efforts to add "sexual orientation" to the campus nondiscriminatory policy and has since then been a champion of GLBTQ rights in San Diego.

This historic anniversary celebration fundraising event reflects the University of San Diego's identity as a Roman Catholic, liberal arts university through the Core Value of Community:

"The University is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and collaborative community accentuated by a spirit of freedom and charity, and marked by protection of the rights and dignity of the individual. The University values students, faculty and staff from different backgrounds and faith traditions and is committed to creating an atmosphere of trust, safety and respect in a community characterized by a rich diversity of people and ideas."

USD's Mission and Vision

As a cultural organization, the primary purpose of USD Pride is to foster an environment of acceptance and inclusion of sexual and gender diversity through education, support, and social activities. In the first meetings of the 2012-2013 year Pride has averaged 50 students per meeting, with 87 registered members and even more unregistered students participating in events making it one of the largest student organizations on campus. This represents more than a doubling in membership compared to the 2011-2012 academic year!

We are proud to have created a safe space on campus and we need your help to keep up our important work. While Associated Students (AS) cover the vast majority of our prior expenses with PRIDE's continued expansion new needs have arisen. The most challenging is the fact that AS will not pay for any marketing expenses, including even small expenditures such as printing flyers. The money raised around PRIDE's 21st Anniversary Celebration Fundraiser will be routed through PRIDE's restricted account and used to fund some of the initiatives listed below:

•  Informational pamphlets for PRIDE's Desk - $500: Acquiring informational leaflets catering to the needs of LGBTQ students. Would entail both purchasing from a national organization and producing our own.

•  Marketing - $750: Covering the marketing costs that Associated Students doesn't cover such as flyers to be posted on campus. This also includes printing a banner and table throw to increase Pride's visibility on and off campus.

•  Leadership Training - $1,250: Training the executive board on how to work more effectively together and with the unique challenges of PRIDE's involvement on campus.

•  Sponsor Students for travel to Conferences - $1,500: Travel to and registration for LGBTQ themed conferences. For example the Western Regional LGBTQIA College Conference held at Berkeley and attended by PRIDE members in spring 2011.

•  Lavender Graduation - $2,000: A graduation event to recognize the graduating LGBTQ and allies at the undergraduate and law school ceremonies.

•  Bean Bags - $2,000: Currently PRIDE doesn't have enough seating for all our members. The beanbags would be purchased for additional seating for PRIDE general body meetings.

•  T Shirts - $3,500: Making t-shirts for the social innovation, the "proud to be" campaign, to increase awareness about individual differences, especially regarding the LGBTQ community. This would print enough t-shirts for 2 years.

Total Funding Goal this Year: $11,500
